"I just wanted to write and say how much I enjoyed your class. I practically floated out of there on a cloud it was so exhilarating and inspiring and fun. Not a leaf or blade of grass is safe right now as I eye it with greedy intentions to squeeze through a print press!

Mezmerizing MonotypeLearn to produce vibrant one-of-a-kind prints using a simple technique that offers infinite creative possibilities. Monotypes are often called "painterly prints": their creation is spontaneous, fun, and immediate. The majority of class time will be devoted to hands-on experimentation -- we'll compose images with stencils, leafprints, positive and negative wiping, brush techniques, offsets, and a variety of texture-making materials. We'll also explore simultaneous multicolor viscosity printing, a great technique for both beginning students and experienced printmakers. No drawing skills required! Classes are intimate: limited to five students Class meets six evenings from 6 to 9:30 pm Cost: $210
Luminous LinocutLinocut transforms the simplest of images into graphic form, producing bold, dramatic prints similar in appearance to woodcuts. You'll learn to plan an image, carve a lino plate, work in positive and negative, use reductive techniques, and print with one color and three color viscosity. Linocut prints make fabulous greeting cards, and can also be printed on fabric. Come loosen up, play, and experiment. No experience necessary! This is a wonderful way to begin an exploration of printmaking. Classes are intimate: limited to five students Class meets six evenings from 6 to 9:30 pm Cost: $210
Drawing for the Artistically Shy, the Creatively Challenged, and the Dexterously DoubtfulIf you've always wanted to draw but cringed at your most earnest attempts, allow this class to pull back the veil on your creative capacity. Using the insights of Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, we'll use a variety of exercises to gain access to the visual, perceptual mode of the brain, and then to develop such skills as perspective and using positive and negative space. This approach to drawing is truly transformative. We'll work together in a gentle and supportive environment. Classes are intimate: limited to five students Class meets six evenings from 6 to 9 pm Cost: $180 (and $10 materials fee)

Intro to MatcuttingCutting your own mats is essential for anyone who creates art because the cost of professional matting and framing includes a huge mark up. Happily, mat cutting is relatively easy, even for those who (like me) find venturing into the world of fractions somewhat alarming. You'll learn the basics of matcutting on a Logan Intermediate Matcutter and each participant will mat at least three pieces. Cost of class includes archival quality matboard in white and black for frames measuring 14 x 18 inches or smaller (for other colors and larger pieces, students must provide own matboard). Bring the artwork to be matted and know the size of the frame it will reside in. (The Logan Intermediate Matcutter costs about $175 and very quickly pays for itself; however, the basic function of most matcutters is similar and there are models available for as little as $35). Cost: $100
Printmaking for Kids!Introduce the favorite kid in your life to the joys of printmaking. We'll arrange a variety of printmaking activities appropriate to the age of the children involved, playing with potato stamps to create fanciful small canvas flags; employing the classic printmaking technique of relief printing to produce multiple copies of the same image; or using the lino or monotype processes described above. Many printmaking techniques are easy enough for kids, exciting enough to create superb images. Limited to five students.
